Colorimetry
Overlay assessment and colorimetry clinics can provide solutions to aid in the management of visual stress. By using transparent coloured sheets or customised coloured lenses, symptoms of visual stress can be reduced to improve reading fluency.
Commonly visual stress can be associated with conditions such as dyslexia. However, it is not possible to diagnose dyslexia from visual stress testing.
Visual Stress describes visual discomfort some people can experience when reading.
Symptoms include:
· Blurring of text
· Letters appearing to move
· Patterns appearing in text
· Difficulty moving between lines of text
· Eyestrain or headaches during or after reading
Visual stress occurs when nerve pathways connecting the eye and brain don’t work efficiently. For some people, certain colours help to reduce symptoms.
